The invention discloses a method for extracting base oil from waste engine oil. The method comprises the following steps: 1) adopting a filter screen in mesh size of 0.1mm-1mm for filtering the waste engine oil, thereby acquiring preliminary filtered oil; 2) heating the preliminary filtered oil to 50-70 DEG C, introducing into an oil water separator, settling for 12h-48h under the condition of heat insulation, thereby acquiring separated oil and separated oil; 3) reducing pressure and distilling the separated oil in a thin-film evaporator and collecting the distillate oil; 4) mixing organic solvent and distillate oil in a mass ratio of 1:(0.2-1) and separating extraction oil and abundant organic solvent from the mixed solution adopting a hydrocyclone; and 5) adding aqueous solution into the extraction oil, separating out the base oil, recycling the separated organic solvent and reusing the separated organic solvent in the step 4).
