The metal hydride refrigerating system comprises a first reactor, a second reactor, an electrochemical compression device and a refrigerating medium circulating device, wherein the first reactor and the second reactor release heat or absorb heat through hydrogen absorption reaction and dehydrogenation reaction of metal hydrides; the electrochemical compression device is arranged between the first reactor and the second reactor; the refrigerating medium circulating device is provided with a refrigerating medium pipeline and at least one heat exchanger; the electrochemical compression device can be used for regulating hydrogen gas flow directions of the two reactors, one reactor performs hydrogen absorption reaction and the other reactor performs dehydrogenation reaction, and the two reactors alternatively release heat and absorb heat; and moreover, the refrigerating medium circulating device exchanges heat with the reactors.
