Abstract

A skin care composition is provided that has an oil phase mixture and a water phase. The oil phase mixture has from about 5% to about 30% by weight of the composition, of a wax material and optionallyfrom about 1% to about 20% by weight of the composition, of an oil that is liquid at room temperature. The oil phase mixture has a melting point of about 25 DEG C to about 50 DEG C. The water phase has from about 0.1% to about 5%, by weight of the composition, of a superabsorbent polymer and from about 20% to about 85% by weight of the composition of water. The composition also has from about 6%to about 30%, by weight of the composition, of particulate material selected from the group consisting of starch particles, silicone elastomer particles and combinations thereof.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to combinations of superabsorbent polymers with high levels of waxes and powder particles, such as starch powder, for improving the appearance, feel and stability of skin care products. Background technique [0002] Personal care products are well known and widely used. These products have long been used to protect, cleanse and moisturize the skin, deliver actives, disguise imperfections, and reduce greasiness and shine on keratinous surfaces. A variety of personal care compositions are available to provide skin care benefits and to help protect and even counteract signs of skin aging that many consumers consider undesirable, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture. The look and feel of the composition is also important to the consumer. [0003] In order to obtain compositions with new and desired aesthetics of look and feel, one approach has been to modify the physical properties of natural oils or fats to...
