Embodiment Construction

[0111] figure 1 A schematic diagram of an exemplary medical system 10 including a body mountable device 100 is shown. In some embodiments, system 10 may be used to insert medical tool 110 (eg, a needle) into body 15 of a subject. Such a system may include an automated insertion device 100 (eg, a robot), which may additionally be configured to manipulate the medical tool 110 during insertion of the medical tool 110 into the subject's body 15 . Needle 110 may be detachably coupled to insertion device 100 such that insertion device 100 may be reused using a new needle.

[0112] In some embodiments, system 10 may include an imaging system, or it may be used in combination with an imaging system. The imaging modality used may be any of X-ray fluoroscopy, CT, cone beam CT, CT fluoroscopy, MRI, ultrasound, or any other suitable imaging modality.

[0113] System 10 may further include computer 130 including at least one processor (not shown) and display 131 . Computer 130 may be a...

Abstract

An apparatus for attaching a medical device to a subject's body, either directly or with an intermediate element attached to the subject's body. The device substantially prevents any relative movement between the medical device and the subject's body. Such an apparatus includes: (i) a posterior base positioned between the subject's body and a surface on which the subject lies, (ii) at least one set of straps connected to the posterior base and to the medical device and the intermediate element and (iii) at least one set of connectors providing connections between at least one set of straps and one or more of the medical device, the intermediate element, and the posterior base. The device may also include any of a pivot connector, a respiration sensor, and a strap with an extendable section. The device can be used in combination with sterile drapes.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of medical procedures, and in particular to devices and methods for attaching medical devices to the body of a subject. Background technique [0002] Many routine treatments employed in modern clinical practice involve the percutaneous insertion of medical tools such as needles and catheters for biopsy, drug delivery, and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The purpose of the insertion procedure is to safely and accurately place the tip of an appropriate medical tool in the target area, which may be a lesion, tumor, organ or blood vessel. Examples of treatments requiring insertion of such medical tools include vaccinations, blood / fluid sampling, local anesthesia, biopsy, catheterization, cryoablation, electrolytic ablation, brachytherapy, neurosurgery, deep brain stimulation, and various Minimally invasive surgery. [0003] Guiding and steering a needle in soft tissue is a complex task that require...
