Abstract

The invention provides a low pressure mercury lamp and a method for manufacturing the same. Mercury alloy in the luminescent tube can be stably fixed on a predetermined position so as to well maintainthe UV strength. The provided manufacturing method comprises a method of fixing the mercury alloy. According to the mercury alloy mixing method, an electrode fixing member with a metal pressing member is inserted into a luminescent tube, the metal pressing member is positioned in a position next to a recessed part formed in the inner surface of the luminescent tube so as to seal the end of the luminescent tube, through an air discharge pipe, the mercury alloy is sealed in the luminescent tube, the gas in the luminescent tube is discharged, and relative to the metal pressing member and the recessed part of the luminescent tube, the mercury alloy is heated, melted and fixed on the recessed part of the luminescent tube.
