[0024] Example sample preparation

[0025]All samples were prepared by laminating the resin formulation between two i-Component PET barrier films. Approximately 4 g of resin was dispensed on the bottom film and the top was coated with a gap coater rod at the gap setting (10 mils) based on the desired film thickness. The samples were cured in a Fusion UV F300S curing system under UVA at 400 mJ / cm2. The photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), peak emission wavelength (PWL) and full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peaks were measured on a 0.1 inch (2.54 mm) square with a Hamamatsu C9920-02G integrating sphere with an excitation wavelength of 450 nm ).

[0033]

[0034] The results show that the complex containing bis-(1-octyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl)sebacate has green and red peak positions at shorter wavelengths. This indicates that the quantum dots are better dispersed within the composite.

Abstract

A polymer composite comprises: (a) quantum dots; (b) polymerized units of a compound of formula (I) in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2 is a C6-C20 aliphatic polycyclic substituent; and (c) a light stabilizer compound comprising two 1-alkyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl substituents.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a multilayer polymer composite containing quantum dots and a method for preparing said composite. Background technique [0002] Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) offer properties that are significantly different from those of bulk materials for optical absorption and emission (photoluminescence (PL) or electroluminescence (EL)). As the particle size decreases, the effective energy bandgap (Eg), or available energy levels, increases and produces a blue-shifted PL spectrum. This spectral tunability resulting from particle size-dependent quantum confinement within the same material is a key advantage over conventional bulk semiconductors. Owing to their unique optical properties, QDs have attracted great attention in many display and lighting applications. Most QDs have inorganic shells using larger bandgap materials to confine electron and hole pairs in the core region and prevent any surface charge states. The outer sh...
