Abstract

The invention relates to a lithium-ion battery (11) having an electrolyte (E), in which a cathode (K) and an anode (A) separated from the cathode by a separator are arranged. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a battery (11). In the storage battery, a first current collector is provided at an anode as a negative electrode (M) of the storage battery, and a second current collector is provided at a cathode as a positive electrode (P) of the storage battery. The storage battery has a sandwich structure, and the outermost layer of the storage battery is composed of a negative electrode (M) and a positive electrode (P). According to the invention, the anode and the cathode are arranged laterally next to each other between the anode and the cathode. In other words, the arrangement is oriented perpendicular to an interlayer formed by the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The anode and the cathode are separated from each other by an electrolyte and a separator. As a result, it is possible to advantageously form an arrangement structure that can also achieve high capacitance and battery power density. Current can flow through the end sides of the anode and the cathode, respectively, thereby ensuring a higher power density.
