Cow mastitis is one of cow diseases which threaten the world cow breeding industry most frequently and cause the most serious economic loss. Oregano essential oil has strong bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects, and can be used as a natural feed additive in production activities. According to the experiment, the oregano essential oil is added into a total mixed ration (TMR) of Holstein cows, and milk yield, milk components and milk somatic cell concentration of the Holstein cows are studied and analyzed. Research finds that:compared with a cattle herd only fed with the TMR, a cattle herd fed with the TMR containing the oregano essential oil has significant difference (P<0.05) in milk yield and milk components, and the milk somatic cell concentration is reduced by 4.84x10<4> / mL. By adding the oregano essential oil into the TMR, the milk yield of dairy cattle can be increased, and the quality of dairy products can beimproved.
