Abstract

A water injection pump according to one embodiment is provided with a pump case and a plunger. The pressure of hydraulic oil is used to cause the plunger inside the pump case to move to a discharge port side, thereby pressuring and discharging water to be discharged. The pump case is provided with a water draining section for draining water flowing down a gap between an outer peripheral surface ofthe plunger and an inner peripheral surface of the pump case, and an air spring for causing the plunger, by which the water to be discharged has been discharged, to move to an opposite side from thedischarge port side of the pump case, thereby returning same to a reference position from before the water to be discharged is discharged. The air spring is configured by supplying air of a greater pressure than an internal pressure of the water draining section to an air chamber surrounded by the outer peripheral surface of the plunger and the inner peripheral surface of the pump case at a location lower than the water draining section.
