The self-powered intelligent drill rod system comprises a plurality of drill rods, wherein data transmitters are arranged at the two ends of each drill rod, the data transmitters at the two ends of the same drill rod are connected through a data transmission line, and the data transmitters between every two adjacent drill rods are in wireless connection; and a power generation module is arranged in each drill rod, each power generation module is connected with an electric energy management module, and the data transmitters are connected with the electric energy management modules. The invention further provides an underground data transmission method. The power generation modules are arranged in the drill rods, and kinetic energy of slurry is used for generating power, so that the data transmitters and other elements are powered autonomously; and the data transmitters at the two ends of each drill rod are connected through the data transmission line, data can be transmitted mutually, the data transmitters between every two adjacent drill rods are in wireless communication connection, and the data can be transmitted between the drill rods, so that a reliable data transmission chain is formed, all drill rod data are summarized, underground data transmission is realized, and accuracy and stability of data transmission are guaranteed.
