Abstract

An electrochemical climate control system comprising ammonia (NH 3 ) and hydrogen (H 2 ) working fluid circulation. The evaporator volatilizes the liquid ammonia to achieve the cooling effect. When f is applied, the electrochemical device may increase the total pressure of the working fluid and / or the first partial pressure of ammonia and decrease the second partial pressure of hydrogen. The condenser cools the working fluid / turns the ammonia into a liquid. The separator separates the liquid ammonia from the gas phase hydrogen. A heat exchanger may be provided downstream of the evaporator. The system may include an injector that combines vapor-phase ammonia and gas-phase hydrogen into a pressurized stream. A second electrochemical device is optionally included, the second electrochemical device reduces the pressure of the gas phase hydrogen exiting the separator, and the second electrochemical device generates an electrical potential that is passed to the first electrochemical device. Such an efficient system can be without any mechanical pumps or moving parts.
