Abstract

The invention provides a modulation type Mach-Zehnder interferometer based on a thermo-optic effect. A light source 1 serves as an incident end and is connected with an optical fiber taper 3-1 through a single-mode optical fiber 2-1; a section of biased double-core single-hole optical fiber 5 is welded between biased double-core optical fibers 4-1 and 4-2, and the two ends of each biased double-core optical fiber are connected with the optical fiber tapers 3-1 and an optical fiber taper 3-2 respectively, so that the Mach-Zehnder interferometer is formed; the other end of the optical fiber taper 3-2 is connected to a spectrograph 7; and an air hole of the biased double-core single-hole optical fiber is filled with liquid with a high thermo-optical coefficient, the biased double-core single-hole optical fiber is placed on a controllable electric heating device 6, and an electrode array on the controllable electric heating device is connected with a power supply control end 9 through a lead wire 8. The modulation type Mach-Zehnder interferometer applies a voltage to an electric heating sheet to cause the change of an effective refractive index of a fiber core close to the air hole in the optical fiber, so that the optical path difference is generated between the two fiber cores, and the modulation of output light is realized. The modulation type Mach-Zehnder interferometer has important application in the field of optical fiber sensing.

Description

[0001] (1) Technical field [0002] The invention relates to a modulating Mach-Zehnder interferometer based on the thermo-optic effect, in particular to the manufacture of a modulating interferometer based on a double-core single-hole optical fiber, and belongs to the technical field of optical fiber sensing. [0003] (2) Background technology [0004] In recent years, all-fiber modulators have attracted extensive attention from researchers at home and abroad, and have been applied to sensors and other fields due to their advantages such as wide tuning range, fast tuning speed, small insertion loss, and simple structure. [0005] Optical modulators are an important class of devices that are used to control the intensity of light during the transmission, transmission, and reception of the overall optical communication system. All-fiber modulators made of optical fibers generally have the advantages of simple structure, strong anti-electromagnetic interference, and good matching ...
