Abstract

A one-component moisture-curable room temperature vulcanizable silicone composition comprising an alkylalkoxyacyloxy group selected from the group consisting of R1SiR2aR33-a and R4R5bR63-bSi-O-SiR7R8cR93-c and mixtures thereof silane, wherein R1, R4 and R7 are independently selected from the alkyl group of formula (CH2) nX, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 10, and X is selected from hydrogen, amino, epoxy, cyano, thiocyanate Acid group, allyl group, and vinyl group; R2, R5 and R8 are independently selected from the acyloxy group of formula OC (O) (CH2) mH, wherein m is the integer of 1 to 8; R3, R6 and R9 Independently selected from alkoxy groups or mixtures of alkoxy groups of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein the subscripts a, b and c are subject to the following conditions: 0<a<3; 0<b<3; and 0< c<3, wherein said alkylalkoxyacyloxysilane is liquid at a temperature higher than 0°C.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to novel polyorganosiloxane crosslinkers or chain extenders for use in room temperature vulcanizable (RTV) sealants, and to novel RTV sealant compositions comprising them. The present invention also relates to novel methods of preparing said crosslinkers or chain extenders. Background of the invention [0002] Several of the previously described RTV sealant types are discussed below: [0003] Siloxanol-silicate type [0004] The main polymer component in the earliest RTV silicone systems was a linear or moderately branched silicone with silanol end groups. Alkyl silicates or alkyl polysilicates (generally tetraethylorthosilicate or partial hydrolysis and condensation products derived therefrom) are often used as crosslinking agents. Commonly used catalysts are tin compounds such as stannous octoate, dibutyltin dilaurate. Fillers, coloring pigments and other auxiliary materials can also be used. Typically the system...
