The invention relates to a novel modified A/O biological denitrification process. The novel modified A/O biological denitrification process is characterized in that an aerobic tank for an A/O process is divided into three parts of O1, O2 and O3; and a residence time ratio of the three parts is O1:O2:O3=1:3:2. In the O1 part, a fixed filler is used to hang a membrane, sludge concentration of the O1 part is between 5,000-8,000 mg/L, sludge load is between 1.5 kg/(kg.d) and 5.5 kg/(kg.d); and BOD removal rate can reach over 50%. In the O2 part, sludge load is smaller than or equal to 0.25 kg/(kg.d); efficiency of nitrification is increased; suspending sphere-shaped filler is used to hang the membrane; a microcosmic anaerobic environment is formed in the biological membrane; and nitrification and denitrification can be realized at the same time, thereby facilitating removal of total nitrogen. In the O3 part, an activated sludge process is employed; sludge load is smaller than or equal to 0.1 kg/(kg.d), so that nitrification can be continuously carried out to make nitrification go thoroughly; and activated sludge metabolism in the region lies in an endogenous respiration period, so that sludge quantity produced by the process is reduced by over 40%. The aerobic tank is divided into segments and different biochemical processes are employed in different segments, so that denitrification efficiency can reach over 95%.

The side flow denitrification tank provided by the invention enhances the sludge concentration, and the sludge is subjected to endogenous respiration denitrification, thereby greatly lowering the nitrate amount, reducing the influence of the sludge on the anaerobic section of the biochemical reaction tank or the phosphorus release of the biological selection region of the CAST technique, and enhancing the dephosphorization effect of the system.
