In a first embodiment the invention is comprised of half portions of the frame and comb foundation in combination with a power supply, heating element, electronic control unit (ECU), temperature sensor and an optional diagnostic system. According to the method, the provided beehives facilitate bee colony observation, swarming and merging and can help the bee colonies to safely live through summer, absconding is reduced, the beehives are warm in winter and cool in summer, the bee colonies have no need of migration, and feeding can be carried out at fixed points; the yield and quality of honey can be improved; and the culture method disclosed by the invention can be used for solving the difficult problems in a Chinese honeybee culture process that the colony population is small and the quantity of plant diseases and insect pests is large.

A nest for solitary bees may be fashioned from a rectangular solid of either a solid matrix or a number of nest elements. Each side of the nest contains a multiplicity of apertures, where each aperture provides a nesting cavity for the bees. Each aperture has an open end and a closed end. If fashioned from individual nest elements, the orientation of the apertures may be adjusted as desired, such that each element may be stacked upon an adjacent element in one of four orientations, so that the cavities of one element may be at 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° relative to an adjacent element. If desired, the aperture density of each side may be adjusted as desired. The configuration of the nesting cavities of the present invention reduces congestion at nest entrances and provides shelter to the bees from predators and the environment.

The invention discloses a vertically-split type movable bee frame. The vertically-split movable bee frame can be used when being vertically split from the center and being re-assembled. To form a half frame, a metal edging is fixed on the end face of a wooden top bar, a metal lug is mounted on the end face of the wooden top bar, a wooden edging is fixed on the fixing face of the edging of the wooden top bar, and a wooden lower bar is fixed at lower ends of the metal edging and the wooden edging; to form the integral movable bee frame, the metal lug on one of the half frames is removed, the half frame without the metal lug is combined with the other half frame with the metal lug, a lower-bar connecting clamp is mounted at the joint of lower bars of the two half frames, and the lower-bar connecting clamp is fixed through wooden bolts. When the vertically-split type movable bee frame is split for use, clotting of bees and constant temperature are facilitated, the bees are enabled to reproduce and restore rapidly in early spring, and newly-separated weak groups are enabled to grow rapidly into strong groups. The vertically-split type movable bee frame is rapid and convenient to assemble and split, and assembling and splitting of the frame do not affect honeycomb inspection, oviposition of queen bees, honey and pollen storage by the bees, manual honey picking and migratory feeding.
