A compression-release brake system for operating an exhaust valve of an engine during an engine braking operation. The compression-release brake system comprises a self-contained compression brake control module (CBCM) operatively coupled to the exhaust valve for controlling a lift and a phase angle thereof and a source of a pressurized hydraulic fluid. The CBCM includes a casing defining piston and actuator cavities, a slave piston mounted within the piston cavity, a check valve provided between a supply conduit and a slave piston chamber and a compression brake actuator disposed in the actuator cavity. The compression brake actuator includes an actuator element and a biasing spring. The actuator element selectively engages the check valve when deactivated so as to unlock the slave piston chamber, and disengages from the check valve when activated so as to lock the slave piston chamber. The actuator element is exposed to atmospheric pressure.

A variable speed drive with a converter that is controllable to precharge a DC link is provided. The variable speed drive also includes an inverter. The converter converts a fixed line frequency, fixed line voltage AC power from an AC power source into DC power. The DC link filters the DC power from the converter. Finally, the inverter is connected in parallel with the DC link and converts the DC power from the DC link into a variable frequency, variable voltage AC power. The converter includes a plurality of pairs of power switches, wherein each pair of power switches includes a reverse blocking power switch arrangement connected in anti-parallel to another reverse blocking power switch arrangement. Alternatively, each pair of power switches includes a reverse blocking power switch connected in anti-parallel with a silicon carbide controlled rectifier.

A CMOS processing compatible germanium on silicon integrated waveguide photodiode. Positioning contacts in predicted low optical field regions, establishing side trenches in the silicon layer along the length of the photodiode reduces optical losses. Novel taper dimensions are selected based on the desirability of expected operational modes, reducing optical losses when light is injected from the silicon layer to the germanium layer. Reduced vertical mismatch systems have improved coupling between waveguide and photodiode. Light is coupled into and/or out of a novel silicon ring resonator and integrated waveguide photodiode system with reduced optical losses by careful design of the geometry of the optical path. An integrated waveguide photodiode with a reflector enables transmitted light to reflect back through the integrated waveguide photodiode, improving sensitivity. Careful selection of the dimensions of a novel integrated waveguide microdisk photodiode system results in reduced scattering. Improved sensitivity integrated waveguide photodiodes comprise integrated heaters.

An industrial X-ray tube formed by accommodating a cathode and anode in a container having an evacuated interior, in which electrons emitted from the cathode are caused to strike the anode and X-rays are emitted from the anode. The cathode is formed from graphite. The graphite is a layered crystal obtained by layering a plurality of carbon hexagonal planes. The graphite is cut based on crystal axes of the carbon hexagonal planes. The resulting cut surface is caused to function as an electron-emitting surface. For example, directions of an a- and b-crystal axis may be set so as to be arbitrary between each of the layers of the carbon hexagonal planes, the graphite may be cut along a surface parallel to the c-axis, and the resulting cut surface may be caused to function as an electron-emitting surface. A first transfer mechanism of a biaxial stretch blow-forming apparatus has sliders that are transported along a circular transportation passage. The sliders slide along a circular guide rail installed on a turntable. Each of the sliders is swung to left and right by a swing arm as the turntable rotates, and a feed pitch of a preform holding groove formed in a holding plate installed at an end of each of the sliders is changed. The apparatus includes a sample cell including an axis, a side wall having at least one curved reflective surface arrayed about the axis and facing inwardly with respect to the cell such that a beam of energy directed against a predetermined location on the reflective surface is reflected back and forth off the reflective surface and remains in substantially the same plane while inside the cell, and at least one port in the sidewall. The apparatus also includes at least one source/detector reflector having a curved profile in a plane extending perpendicular to the axis of the cell. The reflector is positioned with respect to the port of the cell to reflect energy through the port of the cell and against the predetermined location on the reflective surface of the side wall of the cell.

The present invention provides a high voltage, step-up, high current DC pulse type transformer with increased coupling coefficient between the primary and secondary windings through close proximity of the primary winding turns and secondary winding turns by means of transformer construction that provides a plurality of winding bays for a high voltage secondary winding physically located in close proximity to the primary winding. The plurality of winding bays for the secondary winding are provided by means of a frame and separate thin insulation layer where the thin insulation layer provides the barrel for all or part of the secondary winding. The invention significantly increases the transformer's coupling coefficient in high voltage step-up transformer applications where the transformer's core is pushed beyond saturation due to the high peak current typically found in capacitive discharge type circuits such as those used in electric fence controllers, strobe circuits, and high performance ignition systems for automobile, marine, or motorcycle engines.

A semiconductor device includes first and second assembled bodies (12A, 12B). The all-solid-state Marx generator is used for solving the problems that existing Marx generators are high in charging voltage, non-synchronous in capacitor charging, short in gas switch life or high in magnetic switch saturable inductance, series are hard to increase and the like. The all-solid-state Marx generator is composed of the saturable pulse transformer SPT, Q-grade Marx capacitor and grounding inductor units and a load, the SPT is in an axial symmetric structure, Q-group secondary windings of the SPT serve as a magnetic switch, Q-grade Marx capacitor and grounding inductor units are evenly distributed on the outer circumference of the SPT and are connected with Q-group secondary windings. Each grade of the Q-grade Marx capacitor and grounding inductor units is composed of a Marx capacitor and a grounding inductor. The all-solid-state Marx generator has the advantages of being low in input charging voltage, short in series connection, synchronization and built-up time of the switch, high and repetitive in operation frequency, solid and long in service life, a magnetic core can be reset automatically, and all grades of capacitors are charged uniformly.

The invention discloses an electric control unit of a vehicle electronic parking brake system, which comprises a microcontroller, a power supply conversion module, a reset circuit module, a clock circuit module, an input channel module and a brake motor driving module. The microcontroller receives a single which is transmitted from the input channel module, a control signal is generated after a certain control strategy calculation and sent to the brake motor driving module which simultaneously provides the current feedback to the microcontroller when in control of positive and reverse rotation of a motor, thereby forming a closed loop control system. The invention relates to a battery cooling method and a battery cooling device, in particular to liquid-nitrogen cooling method and device for an automotive power battery pack. The liquid-nitrogen cooling method for the automotive power battery pack includes directly releasing liquid nitrogen to the surface of the power battery pack and a casing of each battery cell to convert the liquid nitrogen into gas nitrogen, and cooling the surface of the power battery pack and the casing of each battery cell by absorbing a substantial amount of heat in process of converting the liquid nitrogen from liquid into gas. The liquid-nitrogen cooling device for the automotive power battery pack comprises a liquid nitrogen tank (1), a cooling container (8), a connecting pipeline (19), a cooling passage (20), a nitrogen exhaust port (9) and the like. The liquid nitrogen tank (1) is communicated with the cooling passage (20) arranged in the cooling container (8) through the connecting pipeline (19). The liquid-nitrogen cooling method and device for the automotive power battery pack are good in cooling effect, free of consumption of electric energy of the power battery pack, environment-friendly and energy-saving. The cooling method is simple and easy to implement. The cooling device is small in size, the structure is simple and stable, noise and vibration can be avoided, cooling stability is good, and safety is high.
