Abstract

The invention relates to a new use of TiAl intermetallic compound porous material and a method of producing TiCl4. The invention provides a new use of TiAl intermetallic compound porous material in high temperature gas-solid separation, which is able to improve the filter fineness and simplify the production technology, realize effective separating and discharging the slag, simultaneously, avoid the environmental pollution caused by frequently changing the filter element. The invention further provides a new method of producing TiCl4, comprising: carrying out initial solid slag discharge by using a dust catcher to the rough TiCl4 gas obtained by the reduction chlorination of high titanium slag or rutile or other raw materials, adopting TiAl intermetallic compound porous material as filtering element to directly carry out the gas-solid separation, putting the filtered TiCl4 gas into a thickener or an intermediate container after condensation and other steps such that high quality TiCl4 liquid can be obtained by natural sedimentation or gas-solid separation of the solid slag left in the TiCl4 liquid. The invention provides a new choose to the chemical production process which changes the production technology, saves energy, improves the product purity and improves the environmental protection and so on by adopting the gas-solid separation.
