Embodiment Construction

[0020] figure 1 The essential components of the drive of the aircraft of the invention are shown. The internal combustion engine 1 is connected to a propeller 3 via a propeller transmission 2 in a conventional manner. A carburetor 4 or alternatively an injector is connected to the internal combustion engine 1 , the fuel supply being effected via a fuel tank 5 . A power lever 6 is provided in the cockpit of the aircraft, and the pilot operates the power lever according to the desired required power. The power lever 6 is connected to a control unit 7 which in turn is connected to the carburetor 4 or injector. Depending on the position of the power lever 6, the control unit 7 controls the operation of the internal combustion engine 1 by controlling the carburetor 4 or the injectors.

Abstract

An aircraft, comprising an internal combustion engine by whose drive power a propeller can be driven, wherein the internal combustion engine cooperates with an electric machine which in a first operating mode is operable as electric motor and in a second operating mode as electric generator.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an aircraft comprising an internal combustion engine, the drive power of which can drive propellers. Background technique [0002] In aircraft powered by internal combustion engines, mainly gasoline engines, diesel engines or two-stroke engines are used. During certain phases of flight, these internal combustion engines need to be run at increased power. For example during take-off of the aircraft or in a safety-critical climb phase following take-off, it is thus necessary to generate a surplus power. However, internal combustion engines are operated at particularly high rotational speeds and loads, whereby wear also increases disproportionately. [0003] In addition, aircraft are known which are driven exclusively by electric motors. DE 195 12 816 A1 proposes a glider with an auxiliary motor comprising an electric motor, wherein the energy supply of the electric motor is ensured by battery arrangements arranged in the wings...
