The cable material comprises the following components in part by weight: 100 parts of matrix resin, 60 to 80 parts of flame retardant, 2 parts of lubricant and 1 part of antioxidant, wherein the matrix resin comprises SEBS, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-propylene-butylene terpolymer, polypropylene, high-density polyethylene and ethylene-octylene copolymer; and the flame retardant comprises ammonium polyphosphate II type, pentaerythritol and melamine. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: uniformly mixing the components on a double-roll open mill at the roll temperature of 190+/-5DEG C for 30+/-5minutes; and then tabletting, cold-pressing and demoulding on a flat vulcanizing press at the temperature of 190+/-5DEG C.
