Abstract

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a refractive index sensor and a refractive index sensing device. The conventional sensor has the disadvantages of low measuring accuracy and short life service. In the method for manufacturing the refractive index sensor, a gold film is plated on the circumferential surface of an inclined fiber bragg grating by utilizing an ion sputtering film coating method. The refractive index sensing device of the invention comprises a broadband light source, a polarizer, a polarizing controller, a refractive index sensor, a demodulator and a computer processing system. Light emitted by the broadband light source of which the bandwidth is between 80 and 100 nanometers enters the refractive index sensor through the polarizer and the polarizing controller, a transmission spectrum obtained by the refractive index sensing is inputted to the wavelength demodulator, and a plasma resonance wavelength and a bragg wavelength which are obtained by the wavelength demodulator are sent to the computer processing system. The refractive index sensor can improve the sensitivity of the refractive index sensing greatly, and simultaneously, can be used as a temperature reference signal to compensate the effect on environmental temperature variation during the measurement of refractive indexes in real time by utilizing the bragg wavelength of the inclined fiber bragg grating.
