Embodiment

[0044] The reflectors according to the invention were produced on an extrusion line by melting polycarbonate pellets by means of a screw extruder and pressing the melt through a slot die. During the extrusion process, these slot dies are set up so that the silver foil can be fed between the layers formed. Feed the silver foil in at exactly the same rate as the plastic layer is coming from the extruder. One of the slot dies was selected so that a 0.3 mm thick polycarbonate layer was formed on one side of the foil, the other slot die was selected below the foil so that a 4 mm thick layer was formed there. The layer thickness of the silver foil itself is 25 μm. In summary, a reflector with a size of 7m x 0.5m was fabricated. The reflector is provided with the usual structural elements to create and maintain a precise parabolic shape. The reflector according to the invention is provided with usually adhesively bonded reinforcing elements.

Abstract

The invention relates to a self-supporting reflector for a parabolic trough for solar collectors, to the parabolic trough, to a method for producing the reflector, to a method for producing the parabolic trough, and to the use of the reflector. The reflector comprises a transparent plastic layer facing the light source and a contiguous metal layer.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to a flexible self-supporting reflector for a parabolic trough, the parabolic trough itself, a method of manufacturing the reflector, a method of manufacturing the parabolic trough and the use of the reflector. Background technique [0002] Parabolic mirrors for concentrating solar radiation in collectors for heat and electricity recovery are fitted with curved mirrors to concentrate sunlight at a focal point. [0003] Such curved mirrors are usually manufactured from sheets of glass, aluminum or plastic. [0004] The most common material used to gather sunlight is float glass with a mirrored back. In most large-scale installation applications (Almeria, California, ...) so-called thick plate glass is used for the heliostats of solar tower installations and for the parabolic shape of the trough collectors. [0005] In other cases, thin sheet glass on a support, eg made of steel plate, is used. Specifications for mirro...
