[0056] The present disclosure relates to a process for converting a carbonaceous feedstock to a plurality of gaseous products comprising at least methane; the process comprising: providing a carbonaceous feedstock, a hydromethanation catalyst, a syngas feedstock stream, and a steam stream to a hydromethanation A reactor to convert said carbonaceous feedstock into various gaseous products in the presence of a hydromethanation catalyst, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and steam. The syngas feedstream is provided by a partial oxidation (POx) reactor that consumes a portion of the sweetened gas output (methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen output) from the hydromethanation reaction for syngas and heat generation . The various gas products are then processed to ultimately form a methane product stream, ideally of sufficient purity to achieve "pipeline quality natural gas" requirements.
