Abstract

The invention discloses an application in preparing medicines for preventing and treating migraine by using a known compound butylphthalide as an active ingredient, and particularly the butylphthalide is used as the main active ingredient to prepare any preparation according to pharmaceutically available process and auxiliary materials. Experimental research shows that the butylphthalide of an appropriate amount can remarkably prolong the incubation period of pain, having outstanding abirritation; the behavior indexes (the rat ear red lasting time and rat head scratching times) of model rats suffering from migraine caused by nitroglycerin can also be remarkably relieved; and the content of 5-HT in brain tissue is improved. Clinical tests show that taking 400mg or 600mg of the butylphthalide before or during the migraine can effectively prevent or treat the migraine, and therefore, the butylphthalide has certain prevention and treating function, and such function is related to functions of the butylphthalide in suppressing Ca<2+> internal flow, releasing vasospasm and improving microcirculation.
