Problems solved by technology

While this appears to be a relatively high-yield method, industrial-scale processing of hydrogen at high temperatures is hazardous
Also, the cost of industrial hydrogen production, such as building an on-site hydrogen plant, is economically expensive

Embodiment 1

[0052] This example illustrates the performance of the Inconel625 reactor, which has been used for the dehydrochlorination of HCFC-244bb for more than 1000 hours and was exposed to air at room temperature for about two months after being shut down.

[0053] A 3 / 4" diameter cylindrical Inconel625 reactor was immersed in a 3-zone electric furnace. The process temperature was recorded using a multi-point thermocouple placed inside the reactor. The HCFC-244bb containing 99.1GC area% and 0.6GC area% HCFO The feed of -1233xf was sent to the bottom of the vertically installed reactor and vaporized before reaching the reaction zone. The reaction was carried out at 480°C, 0 psig, and 12 grams of organic matter / h. The effluent gas flows through the gas sampling tube, thereby The progress of the reaction was monitored periodically by GC analysis of the contents of the gas sampling tube. The results showed that during the 10-hour operation, the average conversion rate of HCFC-244bb, selectivi...

Embodiment 2

[0055] This example illustrates the performance of the Inconel625 reactor, which has been used for the dehydrochlorination of HCFC-244bb for more than 1000 hours, and after being shut down in a hydrogen stream at 480°C for two hours, and then at room temperature Keep in nitrogen (not exposed to air) for about two months.

[0056] A 3 / 4" diameter cylindrical Inconel625 reactor was immersed in a 3-zone electric furnace. The effluent gas flows through the gas sampling tube, thereby The progress of the reaction was monitored regularly by GC analysis of the contents of the gas sampling tube. The results showed that during the...

Abstract

The present invention relates, in part, to the discovery that the presence of impurities in a reactor for dehydrochlorinating HCFC-244bb to HFO-1234yf results in selectivity changeover from HFO-1234yf to HCFO-1233xf. By substantially removing such impurities, it is shown that the selectivity to HFO-1234yf via dehydrochlorination of HCFC-244bb is improved.
