The method comprises the steps of firstly reading the current working mode of the PIR camera, and recording the exposure parameter of the current working mode; then judging whether the working mode needs to be switched, if yes, entering the next step, and otherwise continuously working under the current working mode; and at last setting a target exposure value under the working mode after switching, combining with the exposure parameter of the current working mode to compute the exposure parameter of the working mode after switching, and thereby completing switching. The device provided by the invention comprises a recording module, a detection module and a switching module. According to the method and the device provided by the invention, the exposure parameter of the working mode after switching is predicted directly according to the exposure parameter of the current working mode without gradually regulating through photometry and exposure computation, and thereby the switching speed is greatly improved.
