Abstract

An electromagnetic cooking device includes a cavity in which a foodstuff is placed. A plurality of radio frequency feeds are configured to introduce electromagnetic radiation into the cavity for heating the foodstuff. A radio frequency signal generator is configured to generate a low power radio frequency signal where a high power amplifier is coupled to the radio frequency signal generator wherethe high power amplifier is configured to amplify the low power radio frequency signal to a high power radio frequency signal. A heat sink is coupled to the high power amplifier where the heat sink includes a flat base coupled to a plurality of fins which extend perpendicularly from a first side of the flat base. A thin metal plate includes a plurality of perforations where the perforations are filled with an epoxy resin having a carbon nanotube loading.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to methods and apparatus for electromagnetic cooking, and more particularly, to methods and apparatus for thermally regulating components within a microwave oven. Background technique [0002] Conventional microwave ovens cook food through a dielectric heating process in which a high frequency alternating electromagnetic field is distributed throughout an enclosed cavity. A subband of the radio frequency spectrum, microwave frequencies at or near 2.45 GHz, induces dielectric heating primarily by absorbing energy in water. [0003] To generate microwave frequency radiation in conventional microwaves, a voltage applied to a high voltage transformer results in high voltage power applied to a magnetron that generates microwave frequency radiation. The microwaves are then transmitted through the waveguide to the closed cavity containing the food. Cooking food in a closed cavity with a single incoherent source, such...
