Embodiment Construction

[0043] According to the present invention, a disposable sheath system for an endoscope with an observation tube, the disposable sheath system includes a main cavity connected with at least one auxiliary cavity along the outer length direction of the main cavity, and a The lumen attaches to the connector of the endoscope body. The connector is adapted and arranged to expand longitudinally along the length of the main cavity to accommodate a range of different lengths of sight tubes. At least one of the auxiliary lumens includes a slotted insert comparable in length to the auxiliary lumen for insertion of a tool device therethrough. In one embodiment, the disposable sheath system further includes an adapter for attaching the connector to the body of the endoscope having a different configuration than the connector is adapted for securing.

[0044] One embodiment of the present disposable sheath system will be described, for example, in more detail in connection with a ureterosc...

Abstract

Disposable sheath devices for use with endoscopes are disclosed. The endoscope has a body with an insertion tube and optics at its distal end. The disposable sheath device has a main lumen and at least one secondary lumen attached to the main lumen along the length of the lumen. The main lumen is used to cover and protect the insertion tube from bodily contamination. Auxiliary chambers are used to accommodate the required tools. The auxiliary chamber has an insert that is comparable in length to the auxiliary chamber and has a longitudinal slit along its length. The slot allows radial expansion to accommodate a tool having a radius greater than that of the secondary cavity, which is preferably made of expanded flexible material. A connector is attached to the proximal end of the main lumen and connects to the body of the endoscope. The connector extends longitudinally to accommodate insertion tubes of different lengths. Optionally, an adapter may be used to attach the connector to the body of the endoscope. Changing the adapter allows the sheath device to be attached to different endoscope bodies.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to endoscopy, including cystoscopy, and more particularly to a disposable device for protecting an endoscope or cystoscope from a non-sterile environment so that the endoscope or cystoscope can be reused without sterilization. Background technique [0002] Endoscopy can be used for diagnosis and treatment of related indications. They have been optimized to improve performance for different purposes. Therefore, there are endoscopes for examining the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, etc. A colonoscope is used specifically to examine the colon. A bladder will be used exclusively to examine the bladder, urethra, and kidneys. Angioscopes are used specifically to examine blood vessels. A bronchoscope is used specifically to examine the bronchi. A laparoscope is used specifically to examine the peritoneal cavity. Arthroscopy is used specifically to examine the joint space. All of these devices are endoscopes. These devices a...
