Embodiment Construction

[0142] To provide cardiologists with a means of assessing the functional hemodynamic severity of coronary lesions that can be used during percutaneous coronary interventions and that does not suffer from the low rate of use of invasive FFR and the association with cFFR Influenced by the associated limitations, a new method is presented to calculate FFR based on X-ray angiography, further referred to as vascular FFR.

[0143] Vascular FFR includes: a) the calculation of FFR by using X-ray angiography, b) an analysis workflow that fits perfectly into the cardiologist's workflow during percutaneous coronary intervention procedures, or during X-ray coronary angiography procedures , and c) no operation time will be added to the total analysis time.

[0144] figure 1 A flowchart illustrating operation according to an embodiment of the application is shown. The procedure employs an imaging system capable of acquiring and processing a sequence of two-dimensional images of a vascula...

Abstract

A method for quantitative hemodynamic flow analysis comprises: under control of one or more processors executing program instructions, retrieving patient specific image data; creating a 3D reconstruction of a vessel of interest from the patient specific image data; extracting geometric information from the 3D reconstruction; determining a lesion position; obtaining patient specific data; calculating hemodynamic results based on the geometric information, lesion position and patient specific data. A corresponding device and computer program are also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of medical imaging, particularly angiographic imaging, although it may find application in any field where quantification of the hemodynamics of blood flow in a blocked or partially blocked catheter is required, such as in non-destructive testing applications. Background technique [0002] Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. CVD generally refers to conditions involving narrowing or blockage of blood vessels, which may lead to a reduction or lack of blood and thus oxygen supply in parts distal to the narrowing, resulting in eg chest pain (angina pectoris) and ischemia. A very important aspect of the prevention and treatment of CVD is the functional assessment of such narrowed or blocked vessels. [0003] X-ray angiography is currently the imaging modality used during the treatment of stenotic (narrow) coronary arteries with the aid of minimally invasive proce...
