Abstract

The invention discloses application of quercetin in preparation of a medicine for treating intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus degeneration. Tests prove that quercetin has an obvious effect of protecting nucleus pulposus cells from being damaged. In a rat nucleus pulposus cell apoptosis model of 100microM of TBHP, quercetin can obviously weaken nucleus pulposus cell damage caused by TBHP and maintain normal forms and functions of nucleus pulposus cells; quercetin has low toxicity to nucleus pulposus cells, and almost has no cytotoxicity within 200microM; quercetin can be used for remarkably relieving oxidative stress, degeneration and apoptosis of TBHP-induced nucleus pulposus cells of rats; according to the invention, new application of quercetin is developed, the use value of quercetin is improved, and theoretical support is provided for application of quercetin in preparation of drugs for preventing intervertebral disc degeneration.
