Abstract

A compact open-box equipment system (10) utilizing several modular components (12, 14, 16 and 18) which plug into their mating interfaces and maintain electrical isolation using solid insulation (24, 70 and 82), allowing It essentially blocks the assembly from contact with the lower voltage parts of the system. The combination mainly consists of 5 modules: the multiphase load connector (16), with integrated current monitoring transformer (80) for each of the phases; the voltage monitoring transformer, which plugs into the load connector (16 ); inline actuator and vacuum interrupter module (14), which is provided for each phase and plugs into the load connector (16); three-position vacuum switch (12), connected to the vacuum interrupter module ( 14) and line or ground; and the electronic control module (84), which consists of current and voltage monitors (80, 18), circuit relays, vacuum interrupter / embedded actuator modules (14), and temperature sensors (94) receives input and provides programmed control output (96) to the embedded actuator of each vacuum interrupter module (14).
