Sealing assembly for the aft end of a ceramic matrix composite liner in a gas turbine engine combustor

An assembly for providing a seal at an aft end of a combustor liner for a gas turbine engine including a longitudinal centerline axis extending therethrough. The sealing assembly includes a substantially annular first sealing member positioned between an aft portion of a support member and the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the liner aft end and a substantially annular second sealing member positioned between the support member aft portion and a turbine nozzle located downstream of the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the support member aft portion. Accordingly, the first sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves radially with respect to the liner aft end and the second sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the turbine nozzle. The first and second sealing members are also maintained in their respective seating positions as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the liner aft end and radially with respect to the turbine nozzle.

Method and system for assessing fall risk

A method and system for determining the fall risk of a patient is provided. The method includes the evaluation of a patient to determine whether the patient exhibits one or more intrinsic fall risk factors selected from a group consisting of confusion, depression, altered elimination, dizziness, male gender, antiepileptic / anticonvulsant prescriptions and benzodiazepine prescriptions. A specific point value is assigned to each of the intrinsic risk factors found to be exhibited by the patient. A mobility test is also performed on the patient to evaluate the patient's ability to rise from a seated position, and a specific mobility test point value is assigned to the patient based upon the patient's performance of the mobility test. Each intrinsic risk factor's specific point value is then summed together with the specific mobility test point value to achieve a total risk score, and the patient's fall risk is determined based on the total risk score. An intervention process may be developed for the patient based on the patient's fall risk.

Convertible seat for an aircraft passenger

A convertible seat to accommodate an aircraft passenger. The seat includes a frame, a sitting portion borne by the frame, a back, and a jointed footrest along the transverse edge of the sitting portion. The seat can change from a so-called seated position in which the back forms an angle with the sitting portion and its base is close to the rear transverse edge of the sitting portion to a so-called lying-down position in which it has a more or less level surface intended to accommodate a passenger in the lying down position. The frame is a fixed frame. At most two of the elements of the whole constituted by the sitting portion, the back, and the footrest form the more or less level surface of the seat in lying-down position. At least one additional berth is provided to cooperate with the sitting portion and / or the back and / or the footrest to form the more or less level surface intended to accommodate a passenger in the lying-down position.

Manhole Security Cover

A manhole security cover includes a manhole cover body comprising a non-metallic RF signal transmissive material. The manhole cover body is seatable on a manhole frame to cover a manhole opening. In the seated position, the first side is accessible from outside the manhole, the second side is disposed within the manhole, and the peripheral edge portion engages a manhole cover support surface on the manhole frame. A manhole cover tamper sensor is responsive to a predetermined movement of the manhole security cover body. A transmitter is operatively connected to the manhole cover tamper sensor and configured to generate a radio frequency manhole cover tamper signal when the manhole cover tamper sensor detects the predetermined movement of the manhole security cover body. An antenna is operatively coupled to the transmitter to radiate radio frequency energy through the manhole cover body to a receiver located outside of said manhole.

A position securing system for restraining an occupant in a vehicle includes a harness placed about an occupant's body and including a two-part lap belt defining two lap belt straps, two leg loops, a rear belt, two shoulder belts, a back belt, and a belly-side center buckle. Anchored to the vehicle and interacting with the lap belt straps are a plurality of retractors connectable to the vehicle and interacting with the shoulder belts and the belt straps of the lap belt in one-to-one correspondence, wherein at least the retractors interacting with the lap belt straps are each constructed to include a winding drum for winding in a reel-in direction a traction member which is integrated in the lap belt strap, with the winding drum loaded by a spring in the reel-in direction. Rotation of the winding drum at least in a pay-out direction of the traction member is automatically blocked by a locking mechanism, when the occupant assumes the seated position. The blocked position of the winding drum can be released via a hand-operated control mechanism so that the occupant is able to move between seated and standing positions. A pay-out lock is operatively connected to the winding drum and constructed to act upon the winding drum in response to a sensed acceleration of the occupant, wherein the winding drum so interacts with the control mechanism and the pay-out lock as to be either securable in place by the control mechanism or acted upon by the pay-out lock, when the occupant assumes the standing position.

A check valve includes a body defining a passageway through which fuel flows in a first fuel-flow direction during pump operation. The check valve also includes a seat, a seal member, and a biasing member biasing the seal member toward the seat. The seal member is movable between a first seated position in which the seal member is engaged with the seat and the pressure in the fuel rail is substantially equal to the operating pressure, and a second seated position in which the seal member is engaged with the seat and a residual pressure in the fuel rail is substantially less than the operating pressure. The seal member and the seat define a leak path between the fuel pump and the fuel rail permitting fuel to flow in a second fuel-flow direction opposite the first fuel-flow direction when the seal member is in the second seated position.
