Problems solved by technology

The main disadvantage of known PDT devices is that only a single wavelength is available for photodynamic therapy
Since certain (biological) treatments require a certain (only) specific wavelength, the application of known PDT devices is limited to the excitation of photosensitizers falling within the wavelength range emitted by the PDT device

Embodiment Construction

[0018] figure 1 A schematic cross-section of an electrochromic device 1 according to the invention is shown. figure 1 The electrochromic device 1 shown in is suitable for use as a photodynamic therapy (PDT) device. The electrochromic device 1 comprises a laminate structure 2 of thin-film solid-state batteries 3 deposited on a substrate (not explicitly shown), on top of which a first isolation layer 4, a control unit 5, a second isolation layer 4, a control unit 5, a second The isolation layer 6 , the multi-color OLED 7 , and the electrochromic window 8 . The integrated battery 3 is suitable for powering both the multi-color OLED 7 and the electrochromic window 8 . The electrochromic window 8 can be switched by the control unit 5 and thus can be opened and closed. The electrochromic window 8 is at least switchable between a substantially transparent state and a state in which the window 8 is at least partially opaque. In this way, the electrochromic window 8 will actually a...

Abstract

Presently, many variations of light treatment are used in health care. Prime examples are the in- vivo or ex- vivo photodynamic treatment (PDT) of skin diseases, cancer / tumors, psoriasis, mood disorders, bladder infections, promoting wound closure, recovering spinal cord injuries, and countering muscle / bone atrophy. PDT is a treatment that uses a drug, called a photosensitizer or photosensitizing agent, and a particular type of light. The invention relates to an improved PDT device.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an electrochromic device. The invention also relates to a photodynamic therapy device comprising the electrochromic device. Background technique [0002] Many variations of light therapy are currently used in health care. The main paradigms are in vivo or ex vivo photodynamic therapy (PDT) for skin diseases, cancer / tumor, psoriasis, mood disorders, bladder infections, facilitating wound closure, recovery from spinal cord injuries, and inhibition of muscle / bone atrophy. PDT is a treatment method that uses drugs called photosensitizers or photosensitizers and a specific type of light. When a photosensitizer is exposed to specific wavelengths of light, it generates reactants like oxygen radicals that kill nearby cells. Each photosensitizer is excited by light of a specific wavelength. Because this wavelength determines how far light can travel in the body, specific photosensitizers and specific wavelengths of light are...
