The invention relates to a piston top material of a combined piston for a big cylinder-diameter diesel engine, comprising the following ingredients by mass percent: 0.28-0.39 of C, 0.55-0.75 of Si, 0.45-0.65 of Mn, 0-0.025 of P, 0-0.025 of S, 1.00-1.50 of Cr, 0-0.25 of Ni, 0.40-0.60 of Mo, 0-0.35 of Cu, 0.20-0.35 of V, and the balance Fe. Compared with a common piston top material, hardness of the piston top material in the invention is improved by one class while other plasticity indexes still meet a stable standard; in addition, comprehensive mechanical properties and metallographic phase structure are good for function demand of the piston. In the invention, a water-based quenching technology is adopted, the comprehensive mechanical properties of the material are fully utilized, and the abrasion resistance of the piston top material is improved to prolong the service life of the piston top.
