[0031] The amount of eggs laid by Bemisia tabaci on different tomato materials of embodiment 2
[0032] Test materials: wild tomato hairy LA1777 and PI134417, purchased from TGRC (Tomato Genetics Resource Center). These two wild tomato materials are recognized in the art as resistant to whitefly. For example, it was reported that wild tomato and Pennelli have high resistance to whitefly (Heinz and Zalom, 1995). Multipotato has high resistance to Bemisia tabaci in a non-selective test conducted in the greenhouse (Muigai et al., 2003). The glands of LA1777 and PI134417 of Tomato hairy contain volatile organic compounds (Fridman et al., 2005) which have repellent and poisonous effects on adults of whitefly (Muigai et al., 2002).
