Abstract

A catheter and catheter system uses tailored energy to reshape and / or remove targeted material near a body lumen, typically remodeling and / or removing stenotic material or tissue in the luminal wall of a patient's blood vessel. An elongate flexible catheter body having a radially expandable structure may have a plurality of electrodes or other electrosurgical energy delivery surfaces to engage the lumen wall radially upon expansion of the structure. Feedback using voltage, current, power, temperature, impedance magnitude, impedance phase angle, and frequency can be used to selectively control the delivery of energy.
