A transgenic plant of which the total vitamin C and reduction state vitamin C (AsA) content is significantly improved can be obtained after the gene is subjected to over-expression in peanuts. Proved by experiments, the vitamin C content of peanut leaves can be significantly improved by performing over-expression on the Ah PMM gene provided by the invention without causing significant influences to normal growth of the peanuts. Protein and an encoding gene thereof provided by the invention have important theoretical and practical significance in research of synthesis mechanisms of plant vitamin C, improvement for increasing the plant vitamin C content and stress resistance, and are wide in application prospect.
