The invention provides an application of wild buckwheat root powder in preparation of a product for improving duck egg quality or intestinal health. The wild buckwheat root powder can improve eggshell strength, yolk color and eggshell proportion; the contents of asparaginic acid, threonine, glutamic acid, glycine, cystine and leucine in the egg yolk are increased; the content of arachidonic acid and arachidonic acid in the egg yolk is increased, and the content of saturated fatty acid in the egg yolk is reduced; the activity of egg duck jejunum mucosa maltase is improved; and the diversity and abundance of intestinal flora of laying ducks can be improved. The invention provides a new strategy for improving the quality of egg-laying duck eggs or intestinal health.
