Abstract

The invention discloses a method for rapid propagation of banana seedlings based on suckers. In the method, a corm root of the sucker is reserved, and a leaf sheath covering above a growth point is then removed through girdling of a knife; and tool marks are cut in the incision surface of the corm, and the corm is then embedded in a clean matrix for cultivation to obtain multiple shoots so as to further cultivate and obtain the banana seedlings. In the method provided by the invention, one banana sucker can be used to breed 30-50 banana seedlings, so demands quantity of the suckers is greatly reduced; and 3-4 months will be spent during production from bud taking to seedling emergence, so the production duration is 4-5 months shorter than the production duration of a tissue culture rapid propagation method, and production cost is greatly saved. The method provided by the invention requires no aseptic technique, puts forward low requirements for techniques and equipment, and is especially applicable to middle and small farms. Meanwhile, the method avoids defects that the tissue culture method has many subcultures and can lead to easy variation, is applicable to conservation and evaluation of banana resources, can effectively make up defects in existing banana rapid propagation methods and can promote healthy development of the banana seedling industry.
