According to the invention, powder particles of the fire extinguishing agent prepared by using the preparation method provided by the invention are sprayed onto the metal sodium fire; the expanded graphite has good heat conduction effect, so the temperature of metal sodium can be rapidly reduced; meanwhile, the covering agent can form a compact and thin film on the surface of burning metal sodium, so the burning metal sodium is isolated from surrounding air, and the effect of extinguishing fire by smothering is exerted.
