Animal experiments prove that for the situation that the CD4+ cells obviously decrease after model building, CD4+ T cells obviously increase after water extract of the rhizoma smilacis glabrae or an extract thereof is applied, which shows that the rhizomasmilacis glabrae can be used for adjuvant therapy of diseases including the acquired immune deficiency syndrome, infectious mononucleosis, tuberculosis, tumors and the like caused by decrease of theCD4+ cells, and can be used for preparing the drug so as to perform adjuvant therapy of the diseases by promoting proliferation of the CD4+ cells.
