Abstract

The present invention provides an alignment assistant which is capable of ensuring the storage stability of a liquid crystal composition, while being capable of having liquid crystal molecules spontaneously align. The present invention also provides: a liquid crystal composition which has excellent storage stability, and which enables the achievement of a liquid crystal display element wherein liquid crystal molecules are well aligned; and a liquid crystal display element which uses this liquid crystal composition. This alignment assistant makes liquid crystal molecules align spontaneously. This alignment assistant is characterized by containing a first compound that has a polar group and a second compound that is different from the first compound but has the same polar group.
