Embodiment 1

[0404] Antiseptic efficacy

[0405] This test is a reference method for evaluating the preservative efficacy of test formulations (in this case anionic emulsions at pH 5.8, containing various fatty esters and fatty alcohols as oil bodies and glyceryl stearate citrate as emulsifier) .

[0406] The preparations were inoculated with known microbial populations (0.2 ml of calibrated inoculum to 20 g of the test preparation) and the number of surviving microorganisms was counted at defined time intervals over 28 days. The inoculated test products were stored at 22.5±2.5°C for 28 days. Viable microorganisms were counted by total aerobic plate count. For each time point, the log10 reduction was calculated and compared to the passing criterion. The results are provided in Table 1.

Abstract

Suggested is an antimicrobial mixture comprising or consisting of (a) at least one monocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol, (b) at least one active selected from the group consisting of 4-hydroxyacetophenone, sorbitan caprylate, cocamidopropyl PG-dimonium chloride phosphate, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, glyceryl caprylate and glyceryl caprate, and optionally (c) at least one additional antimicrobial agent different from components (a) and (b).

Description

[0001] field of invention [0002] The present invention is in the field of antimicrobial formulations for eg personal care, detergent and nutritional products and relates to new antimicrobial mixtures and their use in various fields of consumer products. Background technique [0003] In the cosmetic and pharmaceutical as well as food industry there is a constant need for preparations with antimicrobial properties, especially for preservation of perishable products such as for example cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or food, but also for direct cosmetic or therapeutic treatments harmful to humans or Microorganisms in animal bodies. Microorganisms that can cause body odour, acne, mycosis, etc. can be cited by way of example. [0004] In fact a large number of antimicrobially active compounds are already used in the technical field involved, nonetheless the search for alternatives continues, enabling targeted specific treatment and / or reducing side effects. However, when looking fo...
