[0030] The detergency of the film-forming antiseptic composition for surgical sites of the present invention was demonstrated by pouring a small volume of a composition containing 1% chlorhexidine gluconate onto a piece of fabric. The fabric is then dried and washed with a solution of chlorine bleach and detergent. The laundered fabrics showed no trace of staining from the composition. A single piece of fabric was similarly treated with a 1% solution of chlorhexidine gluconate in ethanol. Wash the fabric with a solution of chlorine bleach and detergent. The laundered fabric exhibited a brownish stain.
