Problems solved by technology

[0006] Another disadvantage of heat treatment at temperatures between 200 and 400°C is that the process is relatively costly and thus makes hydrophobic silica comparatively more expensive

[0293]The base silica is dried via a spin-flash dryer and coated with a silicone oil (eg DOW CORNING(R) 200 FLUID 50 CS, carbon content about 33%, viscosity 50 mPas). The silica was then aged (at least 48 hours at room temperature) until the methanol wettability was at least 20%. The analytical data for the aged silica are presented in Table 1.1.

Abstract

To provide a hydrophobic precipitated silica which has a high whiteness and can be well blended in a compounded silicone rubber, and also to provide a method for production thereof and the use thereof.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to hydrophobic precipitated silicas which are prepared without heat treatment, have high whiteness and function well in silicone rubber formulations and exhibit high reinforcement in silicone vulcanizates. Background technique [0002] It is known, for example, from DE 30 85 905 to treat finely divided solids, metal oxides and silicates with organosilicon compounds, such as organopolysiloxanes. The heat treatment performed therein is carried out under a nitrogen inert atmosphere. Furthermore, hydrophobic silicates are known, for example, from DE 24 35 860 , DE 22 42 728 and DE 2513 608 . [0003] In these documents, hydrophilic silicates and precipitated silicas are hydrophobized by reacting the silicates and precipitated silicas with organosilicon compounds. As hydrophobic agents, for example, organohalosilanes and organopolysiloxane compounds are used. [0004] Processes for the preparation of hydrophobic silicas are ...
