System and method for use of distributed electronic wallets

Methods and systems whereby two electronic wallets communicate and exchange information. In one such system, a consumer's personal electronic wallet communicates with the exclusive or preferred wallet of a web merchant. In one such system, an internet consumer registers with a web merchant's exclusive or preferred electronic wallet (“merchant wallet”) and provides consumer information (e.g., credit card number, mailing address, and other information) to the merchant wallet, which is stored by the merchant wallet in a database on the merchant server. Such information may be automatically populated by the consumer's personal electronic wallet. The consumer maintains current consumer information in a consumer electronic wallet on the consumer's personal computer. When the consumer visits the merchant site again, and orders goods or services, the merchant's preferred wallet can be automatically updated by the consumer's electronic wallet if any of the data in the merchant's wallet has changed. For example, the consumer wallet examines the information in the merchant wallet to determine if the information in the merchant wallet conforms to the current information in the consumer wallet. If the information does not conform, the consumer wallet communicates the current consumer information to the merchant wallet.

System and methods for managing the utilization of a communications device

A system and method for the real-time management of a device, and more particularly to the allocation of electronic wallets that are associated with one or more devices and various controls that enable at least two entities to manage how the device is utilized for various activities and to pay for goods and services. Each device is associated with at least two electronic wallets, a user wallet and an administrator wallet. The administrator can establish rules that designate how and when the device can be used and which wallet will be used to pay for goods and services desired by the user, but in the event the user wallet is depleted or low on funds, the administrator wallet can serve as a backup funding source for specified types of goods and / or services. Additional wallets can also be associated with the device to authorize and pay for goods and services, under the control of the administrator wallet, such as a promotional wallet that could be designated for use with the device before a primary or administrative wallet was used, or a dynamic wallet that could be associated for use with multiple different devices as well as other wallets, but acts in conjunction with the user and administrator wallets. Additional rules can be established to perform many other functions, such as manage the movement of value between wallets and from other sources to the wallets.

Wireless device electronic wallet transaction validation

A wireless phone electronic wallet transaction is associated with a current location of the wireless device at the time of the transaction. The current location is compared to an entry in a database of associated merchants accepting electronic wallet transactions to the locations that they handle such transactions. If a match in location is found, the wireless phone electronic wallet transaction may be validated. If the wireless phone conducting the electronic wallet transaction is not at an expected or acceptable location at the time of the transaction, then the transaction may be flagged for possible fraudulent activity. At the time of the electronic wallet transaction, a software location based services (LBS) trigger is initiated by a wireless device to request validation of the transaction based on its current location.

Electronic wallet management system, electronic wallet device, electronic wallet management unit, and terminal station

The invention solves the inconvenience that a customer would experience when his / her electronic wallet was lost or broken down. A backup condition testing means tests predefined backup conditions to determine whether to make a backup, when an electronic wallet device communicates with any other device to transfer monetary data. When the backup condition testing means has determined to make a backup, a backup data sending means sends a predetermined set of backup data collected from the electronic wallet device. A backup data management means receives the backup data from the backup data sending means and saves the received data into its backup database. In this way, the proposed system automatically saves backup data of the electronic wallet device when any backup condition is met. This mechanism permits the customer to have an alternative electronic wallet device to be promptly issued when his / her electronic wallet device is lost.
