The method comprises the following steps: obtaining the data of a queuing vehicle at an entrance in the region at the present moment, and transmitting the obtained data to a server; searching the average number of exit vehicles at an exit in a corresponding unit time period in a historical database by the server, and calculating the interval time from the time when the front vehicle leaves to the time when the rear vehicle leaves in the corresponding unit time period; based on the data of the queuing vehicle at the entrance and the interval time from the time when the front vehicle leaves to the time when the rear vehicle leaves in the corresponding unit time period, calculating the queuing waiting time of the vehicle in the region at the present moment by the server. The system comprises a vehicle queuing data obtaining unit, and a vehicle leaving data obtaining unit, which are respectively mounted at the entrance and the exit of the region, and the server connected to the two obtaining units. Through the use of the method and system disclosed by the invention, the predicting time of the queuing of the vehicle in the object region can be provided for a driver as a reference in real time through the network, so that the driver can make a decision in time and reasonably manages time.
