Embodiment Construction

[0056] The present invention will be further described in detail through embodiments in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Wherein, the same reference numerals represent the same elements.

[0057] Figure 1 shows a transceiver 100 having a cross-coupled tank circuit 114 according to a preferred embodiment. The transceiver 100 can be used in a communication system, device, method, etc., and can be set in a wireless communication device to send and receive signals through a wireless network or other wireless communications. The transceiver 100 can receive a radio frequency (RF) signal, and convert, modulate or demodulate the received radio frequency (RF) signal according to an application or a service type. The transceiver 100 is discussed below by way of an example of RF receiver / transmitter 102 receiving a signal. Alternatively, transceiver 100 may transmit signals via RF transmitter / receiver 102 as well.

Abstract

The invention discloses a varactor diode-based ring oscillator and method for generating an output signal. The ring oscillator includes a first phase shifting circuit having a first electrode. The ring oscillator also includes a second phase shifting circuit having a second electrode and a third phase shifting circuit having a third electrode. The output of the third phase shifting circuit is cross-coupled to the input of the first phase shifting circuit. The phase shifting circuit of the ring oscillator includes electrodes having varactor diodes and generating a phase shift for the phase shifting circuit. The varactors can be adjusted or changed to tune the phase shift, the frequency of the phase shift circuit and the oscillator. If the varactor is in the final phase shift circuit of the oscillator, the varactor is coupled to the diode that provides the voltage for the varactor. A voltage control signal is applied to the electrodes and the oscillator to produce an output signal with a specific frequency.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an oscillator in an integrated chip or circuit in a communication device, in particular, the present invention relates to an oscillator with a three-stage or three phase-shifting circuit with a cross-coupling structure used in a communication device (such as a wireless device). Background technique [0002] Applications of wireless communication for networking and direct communication indoors and in buildings are growing. In conventional communication systems, data may be modulated and transmitted on at least one radio frequency (RF). For example, a transceiver may receive an RF modulated signal and demodulate the signal to retrieve data. In wireless applications, data is modulated and transmitted over the wireless network to the destination, or user equipment. A wireless device or user equipment receives and demodulates the transmitted signal. [0003] Whether a communication system or device, a transceiver may incl...
