Problems solved by technology

[0005] However, the brushing method of rubbing the surface of a liquid crystal alignment film made of polyimide or the like has problems of generating dust and static electricity.
In addition, due to the high-definition of liquid crystal display elements in recent years, the unevenness caused by the electrodes on the corresponding substrate or the switching active elements for liquid crystal driving, it is impossible to rub the surface of the liquid crystal alignment film uniformly with a cloth, and it is impossible to achieve a uniform liquid crystal. orientation

[0297] [Preparation of polymer composition]

[0298] The polymer composition used in the present invention is preferably prepared in the form of a coating liquid so as to be suitable for forming a liquid crystal aligning film. That is, the polymer composition used in the present invention is preferably prepared in the form of a solution in which a resin component for forming a resin coating is dissolved in an organic solvent. Here, the resin component refers to a resin component containing the above-mentioned photosensitive side chain type polymer capable of expressing liquid crystallinity. In this case, the content of the resin component is preferably 1% by mass to 20% by mass, more preferably 3% by mass to 15% by mass, particularly preferably 3% by mass to 10% by mass.

[0299] In the polymer composition of this embodiment, the above-mentioned resin components may all be the above-mentioned photosensitive side-chain polymers capable of exhibiting liquid crystallinity,...

Embodiment

[0410] The methacrylic monomers MA1 and MA2 and the additives T1 and T2 used in Examples are shown below.

[0411] In addition, MA1 and M2 were respectively synthesized as follows. That is, MA1 was synthesized by the synthesis method described in the patent document (WO2011-084546). MA2 was synthesized by the synthesis method described in the patent document (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 9-118717).

[0412] Additives T1 (3-aminomethylpyridine) and T2 (1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole) used commercially available additives.

[0413]

[0414] In addition, the abbreviations of the reagents used in this example are shown below.

[0415] (Organic solvents)

[0416] THF: Tetrahydrofuran.

[0417] NMP: N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.

[0418] BC: butyl cellosolve.

[0419] (polymerization initiator)

[0420] AIBN: 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile.

Synthetic example 1

[0422] MA1 (4.99 g, 15.0 mmol) and MA2 (4.60 g, 15.0 mmol) were dissolved in THF (88.5 g), and after degassing with a diaphragm pump, AIBN (0.246 g, 1.5 mmol) was added and degassed again. Then, it was made to react at 50 degreeC for 30 hours, and the polymer solution of the methacrylate was obtained. This polymer solution was added dropwise to diethyl ether (1000 ml), and the resulting precipitate was filtered. This deposit was wash|cleaned with diethyl ether, and it dried under reduced pressure in 40 degreeC oven, and obtained the methacrylate polymer powder.

[0423] NMP (54.0g) was added to the obtained methacrylate polymer powder (6.0g), and it stirred and melt|dissolved at room temperature for 5 hours. BC (40.0g) was added and stirred to this solution, and the methacrylic polymer solution B1 was obtained.

Abstract

The present invention provides an in-plane-switching liquid crystal display element which exhibits excellent burn-in properties and efficiently controls orientation. To this end, the present invention provides a polymer composition containing: (A) a photosensitive side-chain polymer which exhibits liquid-crystal properties within a prescribed temperature range; (B) an amine compound intramolecularly having one primary amino group and a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic ring, the primary amino group being one which bonds to an aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a non-aromatic-ring hydrocarbon group; and (C) an organic solvent. Specifically, the present invention provides a method which makes it possible to produce a substrate having a liquid crystal orientation membrane, and to obtain a liquid crystal orientation membrane for use in an in-plane-switching liquid crystal display element having the ability to control orientation, by having the following steps: [I] a step for forming a film by applying said composition onto a substrate having a conductive film for in-plane switching; [II] a step for irradiating the film obtained in [I] with polarized ultraviolet rays; and [III] a step for heating the film obtained in [II].

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a substrate having a liquid crystal alignment film for a transverse electric field drive type liquid crystal display element. More specifically, it relates to a new method for producing a liquid crystal display element excellent in image sticking characteristics. Background technique [0002] Liquid crystal display devices are known as display devices that are light in weight, thin in cross-section, and low in power consumption. In recent years, they have been used in large-scale television applications, etc., and have achieved remarkable development. The liquid crystal display element is constituted, for example, by sandwiching a liquid crystal layer between a pair of transparent substrates provided with electrodes. Also, in a liquid crystal display element, an organic film containing an organic material is used as a liquid crystal alignment film to make liquid crystals exhibit a desired ali...
