Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides an optical circulator. The optical circulator comprises a first optical fiber, a second optical fiber and an active optical microcavity, wherein the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber are positioned on the two sides of the active optical microcavity respectively and both coupled with the active optical microcavity; when probe light of which the wavelength is the working wavelength of the optical circulator is input from the first port of the second optical fiber, the probe light is output from the second port adjacent to the first port on the first optical fiber; and when input from the second port of the first optical fiber, the probe light is output from the third port of the first optical fiber. The scheme is realized based on single active optical microcavity and two optical fibers, and the light is limited in a very small area by use of the effects such as reflection, total reflection, scattering and diffraction of the active optical microcavity on an interface with discontinuous refractive index; optical circulation is realized through the coupling between the evanescent wave of the light field and the two optical fibers; and the optical circulator is easy to produce and integrate.
