Embodiment 1

[0139] A range of tea bags infused with CBD and / or THC has been developed with different flavours.

[0140] I. Composition

[0141] Tea in leaf form, oil form, infusion form, organic and non-organic ( figure 1 and3 )

[0142] evaporated dry skimmed milk powder ( figure 1 and 2 )

[0143] CBD oil ( figure 1 and 5 )

[0144] Cannabis oil or compatible oil for ingestion

[0145] Cannabis leaves, buds, oils; all types contain THC and / or CBD

[0146] II. Poppy preparations

[0147] II A.CBD tea

[0148] Combine evaporated dried skim milk powder with any and all teas (organic and non-organic)

[0149] Blending CBD oil with tea leaves

[0150] A mixture of tea, CBD oil, and evaporated dried skim milk powder was dehydrated in a food dehydrator ( Figure 4 )

[0151] The final product is a poppy tea containing only CBD enhancers ( Figure 6 )

[0152] II B.THC / CBD Tea

[0153] Combine evaporated dried skim milk powder with any and all tea leaves (organic and non-organi...

Embodiment 2

[0176] Methods have been developed to adhere CBD and / or THC to food products. The food product may be selected from meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, dairy products, beans, pasta, bread, grains, seeds, nuts, spices and herbs. The method may or may not involve contacting the food product with sunflower and / or evaporated dry milk powder. The method comprises the steps of:

[0177] 1. Saturate the food product with 0-60 grams of CBD and / or THC oil or extract.

[0178] 2. Place the food product on dehydrating paper and place in a food dehydrator for 0-24 hours.

[0179] 3. Remove the food product from the dehydrator and store in an airtight container.

Embodiment 3

[0181] Dark tea was formulated with various lipophilic actives. The active agent was dosed into the tea at a concentration of about 4.5 mg active ingredient per gram of final product, using skim milk powder and sunflower oil as excipients. The following ingredients are used in the preparation:

[0182] 453g loose leaf black tea

[0183] 2265mg active agent

[0184] 45g evaporated and dried instant skimmed milk powder

[0185] 1132.5mg sunflower oil

[0186] The components were combined in a stainless steel bowl and mixed with gloved hands.

[0187] Spread the homogeneous mixture out on the dehydrator tray and dehydrate for 30 minutes. After cooling, the prepared tea was placed into sterile zip lock bags.

[0188] The active ingredients formulated are: ASA (aspirin), ibuprofen, acetaminophen, diclofenac, indomethacin, piroxicam, nicotine, and vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol). Specific supplier information and lot numbers for each active agent are shown in Table 1 below.

Abstract

Aspects described herein relate to food and beverage compositions infused with lipophilic active agents and methods of use for the treatment of a variety of disorders. More particularly, aspects described herein relate to food and beverage compositions infused with lipophilic active agents such as cannabinoids, nicotine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), and vitamins, that provide enhanced bioavailability of the lipophilic active agents in a subject, and that mask unpleasant tastes of lipophilic active agents.

Description

[0001] field of invention [0002] Aspects described herein relate to food and beverage compositions incorporating lipophilic active agents and methods of use for treating various conditions. More specifically, aspects described herein relate to food and beverage compositions incorporating lipophilic active agents such as cannabinoids, nicotine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and vitamins, which provide Enhanced bioavailability of lipophilic actives and masking of the nasty taste of lipophilic actives. Background technique [0003] Many therapeutic agents are highly lipophilic, meaning that they are soluble in lipids and some organic solvents, while being essentially insoluble or only slightly soluble in water. The poor water solubility of these lipophilic agents often leads to major difficulties in formulation. Lipophilic compounds generally exhibit poor bioavailability when administered as oil solutions or some kinds of aqueous and / or oil suspensions or emu...
